Some 10 Ghanaian students on the Government of Ghana scholarship who were stranded abroad due to non-payment of their allowances by the Scholarship Secretariat can now heave a sigh of relief as available information indicates that the arrears were paid last week.

Man Hangs Himself At Kumasi

A 53-year-old shopkeeper Kwame Tweneboah-Kodua has committed suicide at Atasemanso close to the Atasemanso Emmanuel Guest House a suburb of the Kumasi Metropolis.

"Adam Kwarasey was Not Invited" - Avram Grant


Head coach of the Black Stars Avram Grant has denied reports Adam Kwarasey turned down an invite to play for the Black Stars, by claiming the player was not invited in the first place.

Kwarasey, is on 16 months self imposed exile from the Black Stars after passing a damning verdict on former coach Kwesi Appiah and current goalkeepers trainer Nasamu Yakubu.


The 26-year-old goalkeeper let out his frustrations of being substituted hours to Ghana’s second world cup game against Germany in Brazil last year.


The Norwegian born later claimed then coach Kwesi Appiah was coaxed into replacing him with Fatau Dauda while goalkeeper’s trainer Nasamu Yakubu lacked the modern skills to handle national team shot stopper.

NDC Campaign Manager, David Adjorlolo's Wife Shot Dead


The wife of David Ajorlolo, Campaign Manager for Ashaiman MP, Alfred Agbesie, has been shot dead by suspected armed robbers at Ashaiman-Zenu Washington in the Kpone Katamanso District in the Greater Accra Region.

The deceased, Bernice Ajorlolo and her husband, were attacked by the armed men at around 2:15am, Monday.

They shot and killed his 41-year-old wife through a trap door at the house after the couple resisted attempts by the robbers to break in.

“They ordered us to open the door after we forced it closed (but we refused) so they shot through the door and it hit my wife’s chest and
She died instantly", he told Adom News.

"When they broke in and could not get any money, they took away only a TV leaving the other valuable materials” he added.

The campaign manager told Adom News, he suspects foul play. Her wife was having a five-month pregnancy.

Crime Officer of the Ashaiman Divisional Police, Superintendent William Daah, says investigations are ongoing.

Ashaiman MP Alfred Agbesi expressed worry over the unfortunate incident and says he hopes that the Police find and bring the perpetrators of the act to book.
 

Curfew in Nakpanduri and neighbouring towns lifted

The Ministry of Interior has lifted the curfew on Nakpanduri and its neighbouring towns in the Northern Region.
The decision, which takes effect from Friday, October 2nd 2015, was taken based on the recommendation of the Northern Regional Security Council (NRSC).
A statement signed by the Minister of Interior Mark Owen Woyongo said “this follows the smoking of a peace pipe between the factions in the crisis and their commitment to live in peace.”
The Ministry also commended the people of Nakpanduri for agreeing to live in peace and harmony and entreated towns with feuding factions to emulate them
A dusk to dawn curfew was imposed on the Nakpanduri district in April 2014 following violent clashes between the Mamprusis and Konkombas.
“The Ministry for the Interior urges the people of Nakpanduri to continue to resort to peaceful means in solving their problems.”
The statement said the NRSC also recommended for the review of the curfew on Bunkprugu and its environs from
8:00pm to 6:00am.
The curfew hours of Bimbilla, Alavanyo and Nkonya however remain from 6:00pm to 6:00am.
